A postdoctoral position is immediately available to join an NIH-funded project calibrating stable isotope ratios as dietary biomarkers for chronic disease research with Alaska Natives (Post Doctoral Associate (JOB11-16), 924521). This project is collaborative with the Center for Alaska Native Health Studies (http://canhr.uaf.edu/), which was established in 2001 to investigate determinants of obesity and related chronic disease in Alaska Natives. The initial appointment will be for 1 year with the potential to renew.

The successful applicant will be investigating how isotopic analysis of amino acids in human hair and/or blood samples can be used to better inform associations between bulk isotope ratios and intake of specific foods. This work will draw upon an existing sample library with extensive demographic, isotopic, and dietary interview data. We particularly seek applicants with experience in gas chromatography, GC-IRMS or compound specific stable isotope analysis, especially on amino acids. Experience with stable isotope analysis and good laboratory skills a must.
